Rain and warm temperatures started this morning at 0500. Contrary to the public forecast, the rain was steady and became heavy at 1230. At 1240, several large avalanches released on Hudson Bay Mountain. One size 3.5 hit the Davidson mine road again. Fortunately, it ran a bit further south in the path and did not block the road completely. The deposit was moist snow with some dirt in it. Another size 2.5 ran in the so-called Diamond Face on the Kathlyn flank of Hudson Bay Mountain.

Temperatures are dropping now and most unstable snow seems to have released. Where that is not the case, I would expect a potential for large avalanches, even to ground. It certainly is a wild week, and more snow is forecast.
