Went up on the Duffy for some climbing with Geoff
Creighton yesterday. To our surprise most of the
climbs that had been forming with the cold temps had
actually started to melt away of fall down.
We bailed on our Plan A and B and ended up climbing
part of Closet secrets and then Shreddie.
All of the climbs in the Rambles area are fatter than
they have been in years.
CLOSET SECRETS is still in great shape, however one 0"
cam ( purple TCU) still helps out in the start.
SHREDDIE was in good condition as well. Its still only
attached at the base by two smaller sub pillars, but
seems fairly secure.
Geoff climbed out of the cave on the right side,
clipping one of the mixed climbs bolts and then
committing to the pillar itself.
The climbing was good and steep with mostly good pro.
Contrary to what it says in the guide. It is possible
to do one rope stretching 62 meter rap to the bottom
of the climb ( the book says 100m).
CARLS BERG looked thin and wet, however there was a
group on it.
COWABUNGA DUDE is in.
BULLOCK-AMELUNXEN in in.
RED WALL WANDERERS looks in but thin.
SWILLER PILLAR still looks good.
THE SYNCHROTRON is not quite in, however it looks like
MOTHER is in.
SERENDIPITY is still in but starting to look wetter.
SYNCHONICITTY looks climbable.
THE STRAND is in.
Have fun. Craig McGee, Mountain Guide.
