Skied out the bumbs with KFR and DB today. 15cm of new snow on variable surfaces got moist wherever the sun touched it today. Shaded north aspects had as much as 50cm ski penetration still while southerly aspects had a crust under the new snow and ridges were blown clean in places. The 15cm of snow came in with a strong south-easterly winds and many of the slopes that slid during the Apr 13/14 storm are now loaded again.
Ski cutting on steep unsupported terrain produce small slabs down to the Apr 09 meltfreeze crust but the fractures were not propagating much past ski tips. Surface snow sluffed easily though. We did not venture into the alpine. At treeline in the sun and steep northerly terrain we treated the hazard as CONSIDERABLE but it will most likely tighten up to MODERATE by tomorrow morning. Below treeline the hazard was LOW. The Singing pass trail was in good condition. Two open streams to be forded lower down. We had new snow to within a kilometer of the village which made much nicer. There are skinny sections and the sidewall has melted out in many places so it could be quite nasty with a bit of a freeze an no new snow. Whistler Gondola starts a major overhaul on Monday of next week so get up there soon. It will be shut for 3 weeks I believe.
