Climbed Holy Cross Mtn (2800 m) via Gunnery Mountain (following what is
approximately the S ridge the whole way) this afternoon. 7 hrs car to car
moving fairly quickly and efficiently. The route is in excellent shape,
dry throughout. We descended the bowl on the East, sliding down the last
remnants of winter snow, which made for a pleasant descent. The route is
mainly 3rd class with much knife edge, exposure, and a lot of short
4th/easy 5th exposed steps. There is water flowing to fill up your water
bottles from just below the summit on the East side. It was hot, windy,
and sunny today with a little afternoon buildup but no thunderheads.
