During a helicopter rescue practice today (June 4) in the Revelstoke area we
noted a large, deep avalanche. It probably released about the same time as the
recent Whistler avalanches (around the May long weekend hot weather).
The avalanche occurred at about 1800 meters, on the northeast side of Mt.
Cartier, which is the peak south of Revelstoke Mountain Resort (Mt.
Mackenzie). See photos attached.
A good reminder that winter hazards are still real. There is still a lot of
snow at treeline and above.
