Sounds like things may be a bit drier in Jasper Park, especially east
of Jasper. Some spatterings of snow but not anything near as much as
reported to the south.
Low level climbing is in good shape with routes like Morro's SW face,
Hidden Valley and Bedson ridge. Miette Peak looked snowy on the north
side a week ago....The Rabbit Ears (CR5A) looked dry...Colin and
Meisner's ridge looked dry on the ridges but still a ton of snow in
the drainages, especially the north sides. I would give them a few
weeks or more.
Went up today to have a look at Mt. Hawk and got turned back midway
on the ridge by soft snow. With a multiple person party you could
maybe punch a trail up. I got to 6000ft and below the 2nd lower bump
before turning around. Looks good from below and I thought I could
stay close to the sunny side of the ridge, but no go.....
below treeline there is still a lot of snow in the trees. Might carry
better up higher.
Looks pretty snowy up high on the north sides with snow down 500ft
into the treeline.
I have no idea what is happening to the south but suspect it is more wintery...
