Went for a loop tour around the top of Little Simpsons, and skiing treed glades into the basin along the skiiers L shoulder.( a wee thrash at times!)Exited out the old mine road. 20cm of new from last night, and 20cm from Sunday has been transported by mod SW winds, and loaded any exposed areas around treeline. Isolated cracking and some whumpfing in the storm snow, and likely deeper on a surface hoar layer found near treeline. The Oct crust is now down @ 70cm, and would be a concern in unsupported features and shallow areas. This Crust was giving hard results, but showing a sudden planar(pop) fracture character on Tuesday. Saw a few slabs to size 1, in the storm snow, in steep, unsupported features. Excellent ski quality in sheltered areas. Temps in the -5 range. with light Sw winds, and clearing sky in the PM.
Cheers;
