Yesterday, Aug 9, I climbed mt Arras (3100m, 10 km SW of Mt Forbes). I climbed
the north face by the right hand of the 2 couloirs. I had excellent conditions
with frozen styrofoam snow above 2500m. Below the snow was firm with minimal
foot penetration. The freeze broke down quickly in the sun and there was a
short section of knee deep post holing on the summit ridge at 9:30 am.
