A joyous occasion on this fun route deep in the heart of K-Country today. One of the most serious hazards on this route is wind, but fortunately the beautiful sunny weather kept the wind blowing from the south (up slope – adiabatic?) sparing us rockfall from above.
Online beta for the route can be a bit inconsistent but finding it is pretty straightforward: simply follow the Three Isle Lake trail from the Interlakes parking area 2.2 km until the junction to the Point Campground. From here the route is plainly visible, angle up NW diagonally 175 vertical metres (rough trails exist). We kept on the talus to avoid the tiring scree further west.
There is ~325 vertical metres of climbing, plus another ~100 metres of exposed scrambling to the ridge at the top. Less confident members of your party might appreciate being short-roped for this last section. If you can swing it, a 70 metre rope will maximize your efficiency and choices of where to build your belays. Bring a good selection of smaller pro & long runners, most of the cracks are finger-sized.
Highly recommended!
BTW: meter refers to an instrument for measurement, eg: water meter. Metre is the distance. Your spell check might not tell you this as Americans don’t differentiate.
