This is just a follow up to Neil Warrens post regarding some avalanche activity in Rogers Pass yesterday – a friend (thanks Reinet) sent me a photo of the avalanche that occurred on the approach to Ursus Minor trees yesterday (see attached). Hopefully this gives people a sense of what is lurking out there.
Also another friend was up at Mt. McCrae yesterday and reported a widespread cycle on the Nov.7th Surface hoar layer which was down @ 50-60cms from the surface. They turned back before they got to any real ski terrain.
It has continued to rain all day to day in Revelstoke and glimpses through the cloud show the snow line not far above town, so this instability is only getting buried deeper by the minute.
Cheers,
Scott Davis
