[MCR] Vermilion Peak, Kootenay Park March 25

Subject: [MCR] Vermilion Peak, Kootenay Park March 25
Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2012 00:39:45 -0600

I guided a day of split boarding in Kootenay Park today (March 25) in the burn on Vermilion Peak.  We measured a temperature of -6 C at 2400m at 1:pm and a light cool breeze from the SE.  It was a sunny day, and the recent storm snow rode well, with the surface getting moist on solar aspects in the afternoon.  The surface will crust up with sub-zero temperatures tonight.  Popular place, we saw more than 20 other skiers and split boarders.
