Did the Dolomite Circuit today (May 15). The snow in the lower sections is going fast, but we only had to take skis off for a couple of bare patches and for creek crossings. Both, Helen Creek and the creek on the East side of Dolomite Peak were easily crossed on rocks with no wet feet. The skiing and traveling above treeline was excellent, with creamy corn on the low angle slopes on the East side of Dolomite. The snow started to get soft below 2180m and was marginal in the trees down to Mosquito Creek. There was old ski compaction on the trail down Mosquito Creek and if one was gentle with it, the eggshell carried most of the way. One or two day-old bear tracks heading up the Mosquito Creek trail, otherwise no bear signs observed. There is still some good corn skiing to be had, if you don’t mind the sections close to the road and get an early start. Kobi Wyss
