A flight today to Bow Hut showed lots of snow up high still. Basically
looks like May above 2000m. The serac avalanche on Mt. Balfour previously
reported was further up towards the col than one normally expects to be
exposed to serac danger. (See photo.) This ice fall would have wiped out
any party that was on the normal route to the col.
Lots of smaller wet avalanches from the recent rain and a few big cornice
falls and deep slabs that are one to two weeks old at the most.
