As we were setting out on a trail opposite the Railway Station Restaraurant, a
man and his dog were leaving the trail reporting a grizzly and two (seeming)
firstyear cubs. A ranger then showed up and closed the trail that runs on the
west side of the Bow river from the train station restaurant towards Lake
Louise drive. We walked down the east side of the Bow and spied the grizzlies
at a distance of about 50 meters feeding across the river. The sow was feeding
on berries and the cubs were playing. We stayed very far back and watched them
through trees with binoculars. A few other people approached to the river's
east edge and the bears either didn't notice them or did not react.
