I enjoyed a couple of early morning laps up at Bow Summit on my way to
work this morning. Few tracks since the storm, and excellent skiing on
dust on crust.
There is about 30 cm of storm snow from the weekend. The top 15 cm (from
yseterday) is low density; the rest, which I assume came in on Friday
night and was warmer, is a little heavier (way better than the other way
around!) No significant weaknesses were observed in the storm snow and it
is well bonded to the previous melt-freeze crusts. There is evidence of
recent wind redistribution. Temperature was -11 C at 7:30 am, -5 at 8:30
at the parking lot. I imagine things will settle out and warm up
significantly today, though a thin haze was developing that might keep
things cooler if clouds develop.
