I spent 3 days at Mistaya then over to Bow. Thursday and Friday were
overcast.Snow started on Friday. 14cm by Saturday morning at the
lodge. Significant wind in the alpine and probably close to 40-50cm
in places, seems like more on the Wapta side. Obvious signs of
loading especially above 8300ft. Strong winds at the cols. Generally
poor visibility and no signs of activity but certainly significant
load on the older crusts from last week. Coming out from Bow early
today it was snowing with15cm below the hut and around 5cm in the
lower canyon and out. Still firm melt freeze crust in the canyon this
am, though it looks like it was warm midweek in there with all the
"deep ski tracks"
Would certainly be careful in the alpine with the new snow and winds.
Winter is not over up there....
