The core area of Mount Assiniboine Park surrounding Lake Magog still has patchy snow, mostly in the trees and in open areas where wind drifts were formed over the winter. The snow is generally unsupportive, making for tedious travel conditions. Lots of snow above treeline, Mt Assiniboine itself is still well covered. An update to the road access situation to Bugaboo Park: There are a few new spur roads associated with the recent logging adjacent to the main access road that make for an interesting routefinding challenge. The logging show should be wrapped up by the end of this month, but the new spur roads won't be de-activated until mid-July. Here are some crude directions: when entering the active logging area, take a right at the first junction, then left at the next two junctions. In the meantime, drive slowly and watch out for industrial traffic beyond the 11.5 km mark. Have Fun! Jeff Volp BC Parks, ACMG _______________________________________________________________
