A day at Parkers Ridge and on the Boundary Glacier on the Alpine Guide Training course on July 4 and 5.
A few small, wet, loose snow avalanches and minor rockfall out of obvious steep terrain. Good snow coverage on the glaciers with a well-settled although wet snowpack. Firm crevasse bridges all day. Ankle deep foot penetration even in the hottest part of the afternoon, a bit deeper foot pen on high elevation north aspects.
The Boundary has ice showing now on the left (south) tongue but you can climb around it on snow if you want. The right (north) tongue is snow covered with well bridged crevasses.
Athabasca N Face has what looks like easily negotiated schrunds and is mostly snowy. Ice is beginning to show at the bottom of the Silverhorn route. Normal route looks like good travelling.
Andromeda N Bowl routes have good coverage but cornices loom over the NW Shoulder and Photo Finish. Looks like difficult schrunds below the NW Shoulder route. Skyladder also has potential schrund issues and has a bit of ice showing up high. The Strain has a big cornice.
At the campground +7.4 at 4.30 am, and a shaded +23.4 at 2.30 pm. Mark Klassen Mountain Guide
