Traversed the Swiss Peaks via the south slope on Mt. Roger's yesterday. The route and approach was in perfect shape. We were able to travel on snow  right from the campground through the moraines to the glacier. We brought crampons but didn't wear them yestersday. There was no overnight freeze, but the snow still carried very well, with good step kicking and remained supportive on the descent.

Although the snow is helpful,  it still presents the  hazards of its inevitable collapse where it is undercut around rock and water (moats and bridges). We had some large settlements / collapses crossing rivers!

Caution with the cornices in the cols between the Swiss peaks.

Very classic ridge traverse with grand views and an 11000ft peak!

Enjoy the hills,
