Climbed Uto Peak on July 14. Photos attached. Hot and Sunny, up the SW ridge,
down the N ridge. Crossed 5 snow patches (easy step kicking) under the west
face of Sir Donald on approach to the Sir Donald-Uto Col. Still some snow in
the Col, and the bivy site in the basin below the col is still snow covered.
There are a few adjacent dry spots to camp, but not in the usual flat, dry
meadow as it is wet and snowy.
Sir Donald looks to be in good shape, with the snow patch on the west face
below the summit block (on the bypass descent) getting smaller every day.
Watch for afternoon lightning storms and rain showers. Climbing on slippery
wet quartzite, with lightning striking all around, is most unpleasant.
