It is still early spring in the Bugaboos. I have not been up into the park
yet this year, but there have been reports of deep snow halfway up the Kain
hut trail (well before the ladder and chains). The snow line appears to be
around the 1700m level on most aspects and up to 1900m on S aspects. Rain
in the valley over the past few days has fallen as snow on the upper reaches
of the spires.
There is not any evidence of deep avalanches (very limited obs.), but the
Dec. 5th layer was a big concern for the first few months of the winter.
Attached is a photo from June 05.
