My fellow Mountain Guide, Eric Dumerac, and I climbed Kidd Falls
today, Dec 1st. The route is in great shape with good ice and
protection the whole way. Above treeline thin wind slabs (10-40cms
thick), that are mostly firm enough to crampon on top of, are sitting
on 5-10 cms of rotten dry sugar snow (facets). I'd be wary of any
open slopes steep enough to slide. We encountered no slopes steep
enough to slide on the approach, or descent.
Happy trails,
Barry Blanchard
