Hi all,
I guided the West Ridge of Mount Fay on August 1st.
Despite the marginal freeze, it was in
fine shape and more or less as previously reported.
Of note were the many large overhanging cornices above
several of the north face routes, specially the one above the Center Ice Bulge
(see photos).
The extended Spring we have been experiencing is resulting
in such a hazard lingering well into midsummer. With warmer summer temperatures
these could become more reactive, definitely something to keep in mind when
selecting possible objectives.
Play safe and enjoy summer, finally!
