On Sept 18, a guest and I attempted the North Face of Fay, but turned around
after the traverse pitch on the Perren Route due to verglass and snow on the
approach. Was 0 degree at the parking lot at 04:00 a.m. The last section to
get on to the glacier looked a bit desperate! I am sure it would be even more
exciting with last night's and today's new snow. Where we turned around there
was about 5 to 10 cm.
