Up on Carlsberg today at a balmy -14 to -10.
The approach pitch is in good shape with plenty of ice formed to get to the columns.
There are 2 solid columns formed, the driest and traveled being on the left side, some nice technical grade 5.
Lots of water running on the center groove with transparent chandiliered ice. So still getting in shape there.
Ice screws went at one good one about every 2, certainly good to sow it up right now. The ice was fragile enough that light swings or hooking was necessary.
Most significant was the large surface hoar crystals on any snow covered bench and the walk off.
Would not take much new snow for avalanche possibilities to increase.
