Snow pits and probing in the Amberty Creek area, on S to SE aspects in the 1600m range show overall snowpack depth to range from 2 to 3m. Pit and test info on a 32degree south aspect, with 275cm depth of snow showed an easy moderate shear (compression and reutschblock) at approximately 1m down in a 5cm thick layer of mixed forms (facet/round) immediately above a 5cm thick crust. Explosive control on the afternoon of Jan 27 (same aspect and elevation) with anfo achieved mixed results size 2 to 2.5 on this layer with 4 of 10 shots. Fracture line depths varied from half to 3m depth in cross loaded features. Other shots released recent storm slab near 25-30cm deep.
