Subject: [MCR] Mt Brazeau, Jasper NP Aug 08 2012
Date: Thu, 30 Aug 2012 11:14:28 -0700
Strong winds and heavy rain from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday morning.
15-25 cm of new snow fell in the upper alpine along the divide at the Columbia Ice field and to the north.
Snow amounts tapered of to just a dusting at tree line.

There is a bear and a bear warning in effect at or near the Poboktan trail head.
Travel conditions on the upper Brazeau Ice Field are very good with a 2 meter snow pack and very few open crevasses.
The summit and south face route up Brazeau are ice free with 15 cm of new snow over scree and rock.
The Henry Macleod/Valad traverse is also in great shape, mostly snow, with easy bergschrund crossings at the start and finish.

Cheers.
