Last Thursday and Friday (Sept. 13+14) Ross Berg, Paul McSorley, Andre Ike and I were based out of the Haberl Hut in the Tantalus Range. Alpine conditions could not have been better with good overnight freezes, strong crevasse bridges and easy travel on supportive snow. However, the range is in late summer condition with lots of large open bergschrunds and crevasses. We did observe a notable coffee table size rock trundle down the north face of Serratus. With the cool nights lately and extended good weather forecast, it is a great time to get in the mountains on the coast if you can find a way around the holes.
