[MCR] Howsons 29 December

Subject: [MCR] Howsons 29 December

Early season in the Howsons: 120 cm HS at the lodge, 220 at treeline. Great weather and good skiing on cold low density snow. A test pit a treeline showed no significant shears, but we did not dig to ground. I expect some basal facets, but they may be not very thick. We saw no recent avalanche activity and ski cutting of steep pockets had no results besides surface sluffing.
