Just out from the Wapta. Yesterday on Mt. Olive - looking down onto the ramp to
Balfour high col from Balfour pass, raised my eyebrows.
I was surprised to see an unusual number of gaping crescentric crevasses at the
narrows below Balfour E. seracs.
This usual route-finding crux may be more exciting for awhile; especially in a
white-out. GPS will be useless where
good viz will be needed to see the big picture. Expect to take a bit more time
in this area than in the past.
It will definitely be threading the needle time.
