Pretty darn good conditions in the Bugaboos for the end of July. Today we went
from the hut, over the Bugaboos-snowpatch col, traversed the Pigeon feathers
and down the Bugaboo glacier. Excellent conditions with a 4:30 start but it was
getting pretty sloppy by 9am on the east facing slopes. With the short nights
and warm temps there isn't much chance for a freeze.
Crescent routes, west face of Snowpatch, Eastpost and maybe the first two peaks
of Pigeon west ridge look good. Bugaboo is still snowy on the Kain route and
probably in the upper chimneys of the NE ridge but if the forecast is correct
Bugaboo should be good soon.
Hut is in good shape and will get the finishing touches early this coming week.
Trail is in good shape and should be dry to the hut soon. Applebee is still
wintry but getting used.
Double edged sword on the road. It is in fantastic shape as they are actively
logging on it all summer. Eyes wide open for logging trucks during the week and
try and follow someone with a radio.
