Ski touring today NW of Kicking Horse Resort between 18-2500m. on S'ly aspects.
Various observations for you:

Wind SW lite, gusty at times, occasional ridge-top snow devils. Air temps -7C.
Light ice fog in p.m.
Scattered cloud most of the day, afternoon trending high overcast.
No new avalanche activity seen today; one old size 1.5 E-facing cornice failure
at ~ 2250m. Likely Dec 24th.
Due S. steeper rolls showed 2mm sun crust.

Surface layers on these S. aspects at treeline and above remain quite sensitive
to skier load. We found
very easy simultaneous shears down 30 (on 8mm surface hoar) and 50 cms. and
chose conservative
ski lines in ego snow (ski pen 25cms.) away from suspect convexities.
