Over the past 8 days, the Berg Lake Ranger Station received 10mm of precipitation in the form of snow above 3000m. Prior to the dusting of new snow the conditions were as follows: North Face: -Blue ice right up through the rock bands to Emperor Ridge. -The glacier travel from the top of the "Dog Buttress" to the base of the face is looking challenging, and in recent years a few parties have turned around due to the nature of the tricky glacier travel. Kain Route: -The Kain Face is looking very icy. -The Robson Cirque appears to have mid-August like conditions in terms of coverage, crevasses ect. -The "Mouse Trap" looks as terrifying as ever! South Side: -The Schwarz Ledges (AKA The Black Ledges) are snow free. Emperor Ridge: -Appears to be snow free to where the angle tapers off and the "Gargoyle" features start. Cool temperatures and clear skies could offer decent conditions.
