[MCR] Avalanche conditions on the Wapta, March 7th, 2016

Subject: [MCR] Avalanche conditions on the Wapta, March 7th, 2016

Heads up to folks going onto the Wapta. We have received reports of two close calls in the last two days in that area. Today, there was a close call with a group traversing the last slope before the new Des Poilus Hut (Richard & Louise Guy Hut). Details of the avalanche can be found on Avalanche Canada's MIN page and see the attached photo for an approximate location.

Avalanche conditions remain tricky in Banff, Yoho and Kootenay with natural activity and avalanche danger decreasing, but the persistent weakness is still present. It is the classic low probability/ high consequence Rockies problem and will likely remain that way for a while yet.

Stick to conservative terrain and wait until conditions improve before tackling the bigger spring objectives.
