Climbed Mt Shaefer, and little Odaray over the last couple
days. Excellent conditions on these peaks. Snow in decent bowl off
of shaefer made easier than normal descent. The coulouir to the col
between Odaray and little Odaray still looks like a mixture of loose rocks and
melting, unconsolidated snow. Not inviting. Little odaray was a
great alternative and we didn’t use crampons or an axe, however with a
solid freeze and an early start 1 axe in the group could come in handy.
Mt Biddle and Hungabee still had some snow on the regular routes on the top
third which might put them out of
shape for another week or so?? Lafroy looked perfect, as did the Huber
ledges and Grassi ridge on Wiwaxi.
Enjoy
