Hi all,
We enjoyed a calm hot day with great views on the fine Southwest Ridge of Esmeralda Peak in Kokanee Glacier Park today. The route itself is in great shape and entirely dry. Snow travel on the upper glacier in the after noon was perfect with ankle deep foot penetration, crampons were not needed then. There are still a few spotty snow patches on the upper part of the Key Hole access trail, an ice axe was very useful.
Where ever there is snow, it is well settled down here. With an overnight freeze most early morning snow travel would require the use of crampons.
Cheers,
