My guest and I enjoyed excellent conditions on Mt. Lefroy’s west face
route, yesterday July 13th. A cool night and stable snow conditions
allowed us to make an early evening ascent of the route, enjoying the sunset
from the summit. The summit ridge was dry and we did not require crampons.
The slog to Abbott pass from Lake O’Hara is scrappy as usual but you can still
travel on snow for some of the way. The start of the SE ridge of Victoria
also looked to be in great shape.
