I guided an ascent of Snowline yesterday, Jan 14th. Rising temperatures turned
us away from Amadeus for the fear of having it fall on us. Avalanche control
and highway closures kept us from heading west and it was back into Evan Thomas
Creek to climb Snowline, the route that my quest had yet to do.
The climb is thin for the first 30 metres and a mental challenge. I took four
10 cm screws and placed them all in addition to clipping the ancient bolts on
climber's right and an Abalokov and old piece of tat. After 30 metres it is in
good shape with medium to long screws possible pretty much anywhere. The route
saw about 45 minutes of oblique sun in the morning.
We climbed the first 60 metres of Moonlight Falls (to the big horizontal ledge)
after descending from Snowline. Moonlight is fat and just getting fatter. Fun
climbing.
Happy trails,
