I guided The East Ridge yesterday. The upper glacier had about 5 to 10 cm of snow on soft ice underneath which created good footing. The only section which had hard ice and I had to pitch it out was at the top bergschrund for about 30 meters. Overall it was straight forward. I would give it another week or two and it will not be as straight forward.
