Had a cold but beautiful day climbing Carlsberg Column in Field today. We avoided the approach pitch in an attempt to minimize our exposure time to the hanging daggers on Cascade Kronenbourg. Viewed from above it appears that all the ice chunks falling off Kronenbourg had stopped in the snow above the pitch so it may have been OK... Carlsberg Column is in good shape with good protection and signs of only one other party in the previous few days. Left side was dry, right side was covered in running water. No significant avalanche hazard on the route at this time although there was evidence of some good sluffing below Kronenbourg after the last storm. _______________________________________________ These observations and opinions are those of the person who submitted them.
