Elisabeth D. and I climbed Twisted in Field today. Lightly snowing, calm winds,
and -8c at the Yoho Valley parking area at 0830. It stopped snowing at 1230pm
and total accumulation was 2-3cms when drove off at 130pm.
We used an old approach trail that went up between the two tree islands below
the route. The trail was unpleasant with 25cms of low density snow over steep
scree. No slab properties in this snow.
The route has seen some traffic but the steep crux pillar had a fresh layer of
ice and the climbing felt like WI5 today. The thin direct start did not take
good screws until 20m off the deck.
No avalanches observed but visibility wasn't great today.
