[MCR] Avalanches in Field Ice Climbs

Subject: [MCR] Avalanches in Field Ice Climbs

‎Today the temperatures were well above freezing all day in Field, with heavy rain in the morning between Field and Golden.

Wet avalanches were observed to have run over Pilsner Pillar, and also a size 2.5 wet avalanche on an adjacent path above the Field back road. The road was closed all day.

Parks Canada is rating the low elevation hazard in Yoho as HIGH. Thing will improve by Saturday when it cools, but until then I would recommend avoiding avalanche terrain when ice climbing.
