Tried the East Ridge
of Edith Cavell today but extensive rain showers made us turn around
early in the morning in the saddle at the beginning of the lower section of
the ridge. While the lower section appeared completely snow free, some
snowy sections and cornices can be expected on the upper ridge. Beware of
wet conditions on this climb as the lichen on the quarzite makes the rock
super-slippery.
Driving by the
Icefields area we noted that that Athabasca North Face is showing ice now
for most of the climb and the Skyladder on Andromeda is icy for the entire
steep section on the central part.
Cheers,
